To               ensure               that               you               have               essential               prerequisite               knowledge,               most               Intermediate               courses               require               completion               of               a               Competency               Test               or               a               Practice               Set               during               the               first               weeks               of               the               class.

However,               following               a               few               guidelines               and               referring               to               valuable               resources               can               help               you               succeed               in               the               class.



               Use               the               following               tips               and               resources               as               your               guide               when               you               take               the               class;               it               will               be               easy               to               access               all               the               extra               information               you               need               in               one               place               instead               of               searching               through               all               your               course               materials.
               Tip               #1:               Know               how               to               navigate,               with               ease,               the               online               class               platform.

Complete               a               tutorial               if               necessary.

Review               the               course               learning               objectives               and               syllabus.

In               general,               by               taking               this               course,               you               should               be               able               to               (1)               demonstrate               the               use               of               accounting               information               when               preparing               financial               statements               for               fair               and               full               disclosure;               (2)               categorize               elements               of               financial               statements               in               accordance               with               Generally               Accepted               Accounting               Principles               (GAAP)               and               analyze               relationships               among               the               statements;               (3)               apply               accounting               concepts,               principles,               and               procedures               that               govern               the               preparation               of               financial               statements;               and               (4)               prepare               financial               statements               based               on               valuation               methods               of               accounting               procedures.
               Tip               #2:               Although               you               may               have               already               taken               an               introductory               accounting               course,               study,               review               and               relearn               accounting               topics.

Use               your               Principles               of               Accounting               textbook,               the               first               chapters               of               your               present               course               textbook,               and               validated               resources               to               review               the               topics               below               and               get               new               information,               which               you               will               need               for               the               course.

               Typically,               you               will               formulate               your               research               findings               in               a               business               memo,               review               proper               memo               format,               appropriate               citations               and               terminology               before               writing               your               memo.

               Research               Pointer:               Use               your               textbook               to               jump-start               your               research.

Using               your               textbook               glossary,               identify               the               main               point               of               the               question               (e.g.,               short-term               debt               to               be               financed)               and               search               your               book,               as               most               textbooks               quote               FASB.

Use               that               FASB               to               search               the               database               by               going               to               the               Codification               and               read               the               section               and/or               sub-sections.

You               will               likely               find               the               appropriate               standard               to               address               the               research               question.

Warning:               You               may               be               able               to               answer               the               question               from               your               text;               however,               that               approach               will               always               yield               a               zero               on               the               assignment.

The               objective               of               the               Research               Project               is               to               ensure               your               proficiency               in               using               the               FASB.

Tip               #8:               Complete               all               the               assignments               and               review               and/or               rework               each               assignment               after               the               grading               process               or               solutions               are               distributed.
